Bishop & Miller Auctioneers Supporting Local Charity

Local Auctioneers Bishop & Miller, based on the Charles Industrial Estate in Stowmarket, is proudly supporting local charity AJ’s Legacy. The auctioneers, who are entering their 5th year of trading in Stowmarket is delighted to support this charity and give back to the local area to inspire and help raise aspirations of the young people of Stowmarket.

Stowmarket’s Aiden Jones (AJ) was tragically killed by a drink driver in May 2009, he was a very sociable youngster, with many friends and interests including fishing, golf and of course a lifelong Ipswich Town supporter, he had his whole life ahead of him, until this tragic day. His death left all those people that AJ touched heartbroken, from that date AJ’s family and friends formed AJ’s legacy with the aim to help young people in Stowmarket and the surrounding areas raising money for different causes and helping with donations of items to local young people’s groups.

Bishop & Miller Auctioneers will be making AJ’s Legacy one of their chosen charities, raising as much money as they can from their auction catalogues, which are now going to be free to all customers, with an encouraged donation made by their customers on auction days. The organisation are the only auctioneers in the country to offer a free catalogue to all people, whilst raising funds for a charity. There will be a charity fundraising collection points located in the saleroom for people to ‘drop their spare change in the pot’ when visiting us on valuation days and auction days.

Managing Director, Oliver Miller said “to be able to support a Stowmarket based charity is fantastic, we are going to try and raise as much money as possible this year through sales of our auction catalogues and our spare change pot at the reception desk. The team at AJ’s Legacy has already made some excellent donations to local young people such as the Sensory Garden and equipment so to be raising money for items such as this is brilliant.”

He went on to say: “being local Stowmarket as well, growing up and spending my childhood and teenage years around Stowmarket to now be able to try and give something back to the local young community is a great challenge for the team here at Bishop & Miller.”

Jayne Jones, from AJ’s Legacy said: “we really appreciate Bishop & Miller trying to raise funds for our charity, we really do appreciate everything people do for us and it really helps us raise the profile of what we are trying to do.”
